What is fluid-soundfont-gs

FluidR3 is the third release of Frank Wen’s pro-quality GM/GS soundfont. The soundfont has lots of excellent samples, including all the GM instruments along side with the GS instruments that are recycled and reprogrammed versions of the GM presets. This package contains instruments belonging to General Midi’s General Standard (GS) Extension in soundfont 2.0 (.sf2) format.

We can use yum or dnf to install fluid-soundfont-gs on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fluid-soundfont-gs.

Install fluid-soundfont-gs on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install fluid-soundfont-gs using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install fluid-soundfont-gs

Install fluid-soundfont-gs on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install fluid-soundfont-gs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install fluid-soundfont-gs

How To Uninstall fluid-soundfont-gs on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the fluid-soundfont-gs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove fluid-soundfont-gs
