What is flow-tools-rrdtool

Flow-tools is library and a collection of programs used to collect, send, process, and generate reports from NetFlow data. The tools can be used together on a single server or distributed to multiple servers for large deployments. The flow-toools library provides an API for development of custom applications for NetFlow export versions 1,5,6 and the 14 currently defined version 8 subversions. A Perl and Python interface have been contributed and are included in the distribution. This package contains scripts that use python-rrdtool to create rrds and graphs from flow data.

We can use yum or dnf to install flow-tools-rrdtool on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install flow-tools-rrdtool.

Install flow-tools-rrdtool on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install flow-tools-rrdtool using yum by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

How To Uninstall flow-tools-rrdtool on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the flow-tools-rrdtool package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove flow-tools-rrdtool
