How To Install flash on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install flash on Kali Linux.
What is flash
flash is:
FLASH (Fast Length Adjustment of SHort reads) is a very fast and accurate software tool to merge paired-end reads from next-generation sequencing experiments. FLASH is designed to merge pairs of reads when the original DNA fragments are shorter than twice the length of reads. The resulting longer reads can significantly improve genome assemblies. They can also improve transcriptome assembly when FLASH is used to merge RNA-seq data.
There are three methods to install flash on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install flash Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install flash using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install flashInstall flash Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install flash using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install flashInstall flash Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install flash using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install flashHow To Uninstall flash on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the flash package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove flashUninstall flash And Its Dependencies
To uninstall flash and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove flashRemove flash Configurations and Data
To remove flash configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge flashRemove flash configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove flash configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge flashDependencies
