How To Install firetools on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install firetools on Kali Linux.

What is firetools

firetools is:

Firejail is a SUID security sandbox program that reduces the risk of security breaches by restricting the running environment of untrusted applications using Linux namespaces and seccomp-bpf. It allows a process and all its descendants to have their own private view of the globally shared kernel resources, such as the network stack, process table, mount table.

This package contains the Qt-based frontend Firetools.

There are three methods to install firetools on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install firetools Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install firetools using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install firetools

Install firetools Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install firetools using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install firetools

Install firetools Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install firetools using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install firetools

How To Uninstall firetools on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the firetools package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove firetools

Uninstall firetools And Its Dependencies

To uninstall firetools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove firetools

Remove firetools Configurations and Data

To remove firetools configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge firetools

Remove firetools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove firetools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge firetools
