Fingerd is a simple daemon based on RFC1196 that provides an interface to the “finger” program at most network sites. The program is supposed to return a friendly, human-oriented status report on either the system at the moment or a particular person in depth.

There are three methods to install fingerd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fingerd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fingerd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install fingerd

After updating apt database, We can install fingerd using apt by running the following command:
