How To Install fil-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fil-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is fil-plugins
fil-plugins is:
Four-band parametric equaliser. Each section has an active/bypass switch, frequency, bandwidth and gain controls. There is also a global bypass switch and gain control.
The 2nd order resonant filters are implemented using a Mitra-Regalia style lattice filter, which has the nice property of being stable even while parameters are being changed.
All switches and controls are internally smoothed, so they can be used ’live’ without any clicks or zipper noises. This should make this plugin a good candidate for use in systems that allow automation of plugin control ports, such as Ardour, or for stage use.
There are three methods to install fil-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fil-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fil-plugins using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fil-plugins

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fil-plugins using apt by running the following command:

Install fil-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fil-plugins using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fil-plugins
How To Uninstall fil-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the fil-plugins package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fil-plugins
Uninstall fil-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fil-plugins and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fil-plugins
Remove fil-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove fil-plugins configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fil-plugins
Remove fil-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fil-plugins configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fil-plugins
