How To Install ffmpegfs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ffmpegfs
on Kali Linux.
What is ffmpegfs
ffmpegfs is:
A read-only FUSE filesystem which transcodes various audio and video formats to MP4, WebM and many more on the fly when opened and read using the FFmpeg library, this way supporting a multitude of input formats and a variety of common output formats.
This allows access to a multi media file collection with software and/or hardware which only understands one of the supported output formats, or transcode files through simple drag-and-drop in a file browser.
There are three methods to install ffmpegfs
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ffmpegfs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ffmpegfs
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ffmpegfs
Install ffmpegfs Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ffmpegfs
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ffmpegfs
Install ffmpegfs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ffmpegfs
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ffmpegfs
How To Uninstall ffmpegfs on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ffmpegfs
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ffmpegfs
Uninstall ffmpegfs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ffmpegfs
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ffmpegfs
Remove ffmpegfs Configurations and Data
To remove ffmpegfs
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ffmpegfs
Remove ffmpegfs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ffmpegfs
