How To Install fdpowermon on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install fdpowermon on Kali Linux.

What is fdpowermon

fdpowermon is:

fdpowermon is a simple perl script that installs an icon in a system tray compatible with the freedesktop.org specification.

Every three seconds, fdpowermon calls acpi to find out what the current battery level is. It will set the output of the acpi command as a tooltip text, and will update the used icon as appropriate.

In addition, fdpowermon can optionally call perl subroutines when the power reaches a given level. No such subroutines are provided or enabled by default, however.

There are three methods to install fdpowermon on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fdpowermon Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fdpowermon using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install fdpowermon
