How To Install fdb5 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fdb5 on Kali Linux.
What is fdb5
fdb5 is:
FDB (Fields DataBase) is a domain-specific object store developed at ECMWF for storing, indexing and retrieving GRIB data. Each GRIB message is stored as a field and indexed trough semantic metadata (i.e. physical variables such as temperature, pressure, …). A set of fields can be retrieved specifying a request using a specific language developed for accessing the MARS Archive.
There are three methods to install fdb5 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fdb5 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install fdb5 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fdb5Install fdb5 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install fdb5 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fdb5Install fdb5 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install fdb5 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fdb5How To Uninstall fdb5 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the fdb5 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fdb5Uninstall fdb5 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fdb5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fdb5Remove fdb5 Configurations and Data
To remove fdb5 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fdb5Remove fdb5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fdb5 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fdb5Dependencies
