How To Install fastqtl on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install fastqtl on Kali Linux.

What is fastqtl

fastqtl is:

The goal of FastQTL is to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) which are significantly associated with various molecular phenotypes (i.e. expression of known genes, cytosine methylation levels, etc). It performs scans for all possible phenotype-variant pairs in cis (i.e. variants located within a specific window around a phenotype). FastQTL implements a new permutation scheme (Beta approximation) to accurately and rapidly correct for multiple-testing at both the genotype and phenotype levels.

There are three methods to install fastqtl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fastqtl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fastqtl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install fastqtl

Install fastqtl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install fastqtl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install fastqtl

Install fastqtl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install fastqtl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install fastqtl

How To Uninstall fastqtl on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the fastqtl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove fastqtl

Uninstall fastqtl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall fastqtl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove fastqtl

Remove fastqtl Configurations and Data

To remove fastqtl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge fastqtl

Remove fastqtl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove fastqtl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
