How To Install f3 on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install f3 on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is f3
f3 is:
F3 (Fight Flash Fraud or Fight Fake Flash) tests the full capacity of a flash card (flash drive, flash disk, pendrive).
F3 writes to the card and then checks if can read it. It will assure you have not been bought a card with a smaller capacity than stated. Note that the main goal of F3 is not to fix your removable media. However, there are resources to mark the invalid areas.
This package provides these executables: f3write, f3read, f3brew, f3fix and f3probe.
There are three methods to install f3 on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install f3 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install f3 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install f3

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install f3 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install f3
Install f3 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install f3 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install f3
How To Uninstall f3 on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the f3 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove f3
Uninstall f3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall f3 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove f3
Remove f3 Configurations and Data
To remove f3 configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge f3
Remove f3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge f3
