How To Install exifprobe on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install exifprobe on Kali Linux.
What is exifprobe
exifprobe is:
Exifprobe reads image files produced by digital cameras (including several so-called “raw” file formats) and reports the structure of the files and the auxiliary data and metadata contained within them.
In addition to TIFF, JPEG and EXIF, the program understands several formats which may contain “raw” camera data, including MRW, CIFF/CRW, JP2/JPEG2000, RAF, and X3F, as well as most TIFF-derived “raw” formats, including DNG, ORF, CR2, NEF, K25/KDC/DCR and PEF.
This program is useful in forensics investigations.
There are three methods to install exifprobe on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install exifprobe Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install exifprobe using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install exifprobeInstall exifprobe Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install exifprobe using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the exifprobe package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove exifprobeUninstall exifprobe And Its Dependencies
To uninstall exifprobe and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove exifprobeRemove exifprobe Configurations and Data
To remove exifprobe configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge exifprobeRemove exifprobe configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove exifprobe configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
