How To Install execline on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install execline
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is execline
execline is:
Execline is a (non-interactive) scripting language, like sh; but its syntax is quite different from a traditional shell syntax. The execlineb program is meant to be used as an interpreter for a text file; the other commands are essentially useful inside an execlineb script.
Execline is as powerful as a shell: it features conditional loops, getopt-style option handling, filename globbing, and more. Meanwhile, its syntax is far more logic and predictable than the shell’s syntax, and has no security issues.
Execline binaries are installed in /usr/lib/execline/bin, please add it to PATH before using them.
There are three methods to install execline
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install execline Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install execline
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install execline
Install execline Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install execline
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install execline
Install execline Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install execline
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install execline
How To Uninstall execline on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the execline
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove execline
Uninstall execline And Its Dependencies
To uninstall execline
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove execline
Remove execline Configurations and Data
To remove execline
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge execline
Remove execline configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove execline
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge execline
