How To Install etherape on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install etherape on Kali Linux.
What is etherape
etherape is:
EtherApe is a graphical network monitor modeled after etherman. it displays network activity graphically, showing active hosts as circles of varying size, and traffic among them as lines of varying width.
It features link layer, ip and TCP modes, color-color coded protocols display, Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring, ISDN, PPP and SLIP devices. It can filter traffic to be shown, and can read traffic from a file as well as live from the network.
There are three methods to install etherape on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install etherape Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etherape using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install etherapeInstall etherape Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etherape using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install etherapeInstall etherape Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etherape using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install etherapeHow To Uninstall etherape on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the etherape package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove etherapeUninstall etherape And Its Dependencies
To uninstall etherape and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove etherapeRemove etherape Configurations and Data
To remove etherape configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge etherapeRemove etherape configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove etherape configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge etherapeDependencies
