How To Install etcd-client on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install etcd-client on Kali Linux.
What is etcd-client
etcd-client is:
A highly-available key value store for shared configuration and service discovery. etcd is inspired by zookeeper and doozer, with a focus on:
- Simple: curl’able user facing API (HTTP+JSON)
- Secure: optional SSL client cert authentication
- Fast: benchmarked 1000s of writes/s per instance
- Reliable: Properly distributed using Raft
Etcd uses the Raft consensus algorithm to manage a highly-available replicated log.
This package contains the client binaries.
There are three methods to install etcd-client on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install etcd-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etcd-client using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install etcd-clientInstall etcd-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etcd-client using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install etcd-clientInstall etcd-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install etcd-client using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install etcd-clientHow To Uninstall etcd-client on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the etcd-client package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove etcd-clientUninstall etcd-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall etcd-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove etcd-clientRemove etcd-client Configurations and Data
To remove etcd-client configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge etcd-clientRemove etcd-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove etcd-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge etcd-clientDependencies
