In this tutorial we learn how to install etcd-client on Debian 10.

What is etcd-client

etcd-client is:

A highly-available key value store for shared configuration and service discovery. etcd is inspired by zookeeper and doozer, with a focus on:

  • Simple: curl’able user facing API (HTTP+JSON)
  • Secure: optional SSL client cert authentication
  • Fast: benchmarked 1000s of writes/s per instance
  • Reliable: Properly distributed using Raft

Etcd uses the Raft consensus algorithm to manage a highly-available replicated log.

This package contains the client binaries.

There are three methods to install etcd-client on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install etcd-client Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install etcd-client using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install etcd-client

Install etcd-client Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install etcd-client using apt by running the following command:

Install etcd-client Using aptitude
