How To Install envstore on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install envstore on Kali Linux.
What is envstore
envstore is:
envstore allows you to save environment variables into a separate store, list them, and reload them into the (other) shell again. It therefore provides a way to share them in cases where exporting to child processes is not feasible.
Included is envify, a shell script which loads the environment saved with envstore and then executes the command given to it.
A classic use case is MPD_HOST for clients of the Music Player Daemon. Commands to control the MPD would be wrapped with envify. If the MPD_HOST were then changed in envstore, it would automatically be used.
There are three methods to install envstore on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install envstore Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install envstore using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install envstoreInstall envstore Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install envstore using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install envstoreInstall envstore Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install envstore using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install envstoreHow To Uninstall envstore on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the envstore package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove envstoreUninstall envstore And Its Dependencies
To uninstall envstore and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove envstoreRemove envstore Configurations and Data
To remove envstore configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge envstoreRemove envstore configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove envstore configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge envstoreDependencies
