How To Install engrampa on Ubuntu 22.04

What is engrampa
engrampa is:
Engrampa is an archive manager for the MATE environment. It allows you to:
- Create and modify archives.
- View the content of an archive.
- View a file contained in an archive.
- Extract files from the archive.
Engrampa supports the following formats:
- Tar (.tar) archives, including those compressed with gzip (.tar.gz, .tgz), bzip (.tar.bz, .tbz), bzip2 (.tar.bz2, .tbz2), compress (.tar.Z, .taz), lzip (.tar.lz, .tlz), lzop (.tar.lzo, .tzo), lzma (.tar.lzma) and xz (.tar.xz)
- Zip archives (.zip)
- Jar archives (.jar, .ear, .war)
- 7z archives (.7z)
- iso9660 CD images (.iso)
- Lha archives (.lzh)
- Single files compressed with gzip (.gz), bzip (.bz), bzip2 (.bz2), compress (.Z), lzip (.lz), lzop (.lzo), lzma (.lzma) and xz (.xz)
Engrampa doesn’t perform archive operations by itself, but relies on standard tools for this.
There are three methods to install engrampa on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install engrampa Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install engrampa using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install engrampa
Install engrampa Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install engrampa using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install engrampa
Install engrampa Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install engrampa using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install engrampa
How To Uninstall engrampa on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the engrampa package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove engrampa
Uninstall engrampa And Its Dependencies
To uninstall engrampa and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove engrampa
Remove engrampa Configurations and Data
To remove engrampa configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge engrampa
Remove engrampa configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove engrampa configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge engrampa
