How To Install emacs-lucid on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install emacs-lucid on Kali Linux.
What is emacs-lucid
emacs-lucid is:
GNU Emacs is the extensible self-documenting text editor. This package contains a version of Emacs with support for a graphical user interface based on the Lucid toolkit (instead of the GTK+ interface provided by the emacs-gtk package). Until some known GTK+ problems are fixed, this version may help avoid crashing Emacs during an emacsclient disconnect. There are three methods to install emacs-lucid on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install emacs-lucid Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install emacs-lucid using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install emacs-lucidInstall emacs-lucid Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install emacs-lucid using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install emacs-lucidInstall emacs-lucid Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install emacs-lucid using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install emacs-lucidHow To Uninstall emacs-lucid on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the emacs-lucid package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove emacs-lucidUninstall emacs-lucid And Its Dependencies
To uninstall emacs-lucid and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove emacs-lucidRemove emacs-lucid Configurations and Data
To remove emacs-lucid configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge emacs-lucidRemove emacs-lucid configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove emacs-lucid configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge emacs-lucidDependencies
