How To Install emacs on AlmaLinux 8

What is emacs
Emacs is a powerful, customizable, self-documenting, modeless text editor. Emacs contains special code editing features, a scripting language (elisp), and the capability to read mail, news, and more without leaving the editor. This package provides an emacs binary with support for X windows.
We can use yum or dnf to install emacs on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install emacs.
Install emacs on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install emacs using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install emacs
Install emacs on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install emacs using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install emacs
How To Uninstall emacs on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the emacs package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove emacs
