How To Install elph on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install elph on Kali Linux.
What is elph
elph is:
ELPH (Estimated Locations of Pattern Hits) is a general-purpose Gibbs sampler for finding motifs in a set of DNA or protein sequences. The program takes as input a set containing anywhere from a few dozen to thousands of sequences, and searches through them for the most common motif, assuming that each sequence contains one copy of the motif. ELPH was used to find patterns such as ribosome binding sites (RBSs) and exon splicing enhancers (ESEs).
There are three methods to install elph on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install elph Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install elph using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install elphInstall elph Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install elph using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install elphInstall elph Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install elph using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install elphHow To Uninstall elph on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the elph package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove elphUninstall elph And Its Dependencies
To uninstall elph and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove elphRemove elph Configurations and Data
To remove elph configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge elphRemove elph configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove elph configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge elphDependencies
