How To Install elpa-ivy on Ubuntu 18.04

What is elpa-ivy
elpa-ivy is:
Ivy is an acronym for Incremental Vertical completYon. While it operates similarly to other completion schemes such as icomplete-mode, Ivy aims to be more efficient, smaller, simpler, and smoother to use–yet highly customizable.
To try Ivy, just call M-x ivy-mode. This will enable generic Ivy completion, including specific completion for file and buffer names.
There are three methods to install elpa-ivy on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install elpa-ivy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-ivy using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install elpa-ivy
Install elpa-ivy Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-ivy using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install elpa-ivy
Install elpa-ivy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-ivy using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install elpa-ivy
How To Uninstall elpa-ivy on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the elpa-ivy package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove elpa-ivy
Uninstall elpa-ivy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall elpa-ivy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove elpa-ivy
Remove elpa-ivy Configurations and Data
To remove elpa-ivy configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge elpa-ivy
Remove elpa-ivy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove elpa-ivy configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge elpa-ivy
