What is efifs

Free software EFI/UEFI standalone file system drivers, based on the GRUB 2.0 read-only drivers exFAT, ext2/ext3/ext4, F2FS (experimental), HFS and HFS+ (Mac OS, including the compression support), ISO9660, JFS (Journaled FileSystem), nilfs2, NTFS (including compression support), ReiserFS, SFS (Amiga Smart FileSystem), UDF, UFS/FFS, UFS2/FFS2, XFS, ZFS and more.

We can use yum or dnf to install efifs on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install efifs.

Install efifs on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install efifs using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install efifs

Install efifs on CentOS 8 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install efifs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install efifs

How To Uninstall efifs on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the efifs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove efifs
