What is efifs

Free software EFI/UEFI standalone file system drivers, based on the GRUB 2.0 read-only drivers exFAT, ext2/ext3/ext4, F2FS (experimental), HFS and HFS+ (Mac OS, including the compression support), ISO9660, JFS (Journaled FileSystem), nilfs2, NTFS (including compression support), ReiserFS, SFS (Amiga Smart FileSystem), UDF, UFS/FFS, UFS2/FFS2, XFS, ZFS and more.

We can use yum or dnf to install efifs on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install efifs.

Install efifs on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install efifs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install efifs

Install efifs on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install efifs using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install efifs

How To Uninstall efifs on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the efifs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove efifs
