How To Install edb-debugger on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install edb-debugger on Kali Linux.
What is edb-debugger
edb-debugger is:
edb is a graphical cross platform x86/x86-64 debugger. It was inspired by Ollydbg, but aims to function on x86 and x86-64 as well as multiple OS’s. Linux is the only officially supported platform at the moment, but FreeBSD, OpenBSD, OSX and Windows ports are underway with varying degrees of functionality.
There are three methods to install edb-debugger on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install edb-debugger Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install edb-debugger using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install edb-debuggerInstall edb-debugger Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install edb-debugger using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install edb-debuggerInstall edb-debugger Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install edb-debugger using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install edb-debuggerHow To Uninstall edb-debugger on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the edb-debugger package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove edb-debuggerUninstall edb-debugger And Its Dependencies
To uninstall edb-debugger and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove edb-debuggerRemove edb-debugger Configurations and Data
To remove edb-debugger configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge edb-debuggerRemove edb-debugger configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
