How To Install eclipse-rcp on Debian 9

What is eclipse-rcp
eclipse-rcp is:
The Eclipse Platform is an open and extensible platform for anything and yet nothing in particular. It provides a foundation for constructing and running integrated software-development tools. The Eclipse Platform allows tool builders to independently develop tools that integrate with other people’s tools so seamlessly you can’t tell where one tool ends and another starts.
This package includes the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), the basis upon which Eclipse RCP applications are built.
There are three methods to install eclipse-rcp
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install eclipse-rcp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install eclipse-rcp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install eclipse-rcp
Install eclipse-rcp Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install eclipse-rcp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install eclipse-rcp
Install eclipse-rcp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install eclipse-rcp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install eclipse-rcp
How To Uninstall eclipse-rcp on Debian 9
To uninstall only the eclipse-rcp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove eclipse-rcp
Uninstall eclipse-rcp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall eclipse-rcp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove eclipse-rcp
Remove eclipse-rcp Configurations and Data
To remove eclipse-rcp
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge eclipse-rcp
Remove eclipse-rcp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove eclipse-rcp
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge eclipse-rcp
