How To Install ecflow-client on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ecflow-client on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is ecflow-client
ecflow-client is:
ecFlow is a work flow package that enables users to run a large number of programs ( with dependencies on each other and on time) in a controlled environment. It provides reasonable tolerance for hardware and software failures, combined with good restart capabilities.
ecFlow submits tasks(jobs) and receives acknowledgements from tasks when they change status and when they send events, using child commands embedded in the scripts. ecflow stores the relationship between tasks, and is able to submit tasks dependent on triggers.
This package contains the client tools
There are three methods to install ecflow-client on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ecflow-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ecflow-client using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ecflow-client
Install ecflow-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ecflow-client using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ecflow-client
Install ecflow-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ecflow-client using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ecflow-client
How To Uninstall ecflow-client on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the ecflow-client package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ecflow-client
Uninstall ecflow-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ecflow-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ecflow-client
Remove ecflow-client Configurations and Data
To remove ecflow-client configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ecflow-client
Remove ecflow-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ecflow-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ecflow-client
