How To Install e3 on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is e3
e3 is:
This package contains an editor you can call via the following links:
- e3em: Emacs-like key bindings
- e3vi: Vi-like key bindings
- e3pi: Pico-like key bindings
- e3ne: Nedit-like key bindings
- e3ws: Wordstar-like key bindings
e3 has the following advantages over other editors:
- it has no library dependencies
- one very small binary (only 10 kB) that gives you 5 editors
There are three methods to install e3
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install e3 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install e3
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install e3

After updating apt database, We can install e3

by running the following command:

Install e3 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install e3

How To Uninstall e3 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the e3
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove e3
Uninstall e3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall e3
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove e3
Remove e3 Configurations and Data
To remove e3
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge e3
