What is dyninst
Dyninst is an Application Program Interface (API) to permit the insertion of code into a running program. The API also permits changing or removing subroutine calls from the application program. Run-time code changes are useful to support a variety of applications including debugging, performance monitoring, and to support composing applications out of existing packages. The goal of this API is to provide a machine independent interface to permit the creation of tools and applications that use run-time code patching.
We can use yum or dnf to install dyninst on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dyninst.
Install dyninst on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dyninst using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install dyninst
Install dyninst on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dyninst using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install dyninst
How To Uninstall dyninst on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the dyninst package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove dyninst
