How To Install dpatch on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dpatch on Kali Linux.
What is dpatch
dpatch is:
dpatch is an easy to use patch system for Debian packages, somewhat similar to the dbs package, but much simpler to use.
It lets you store patches and other simple customization templates in debian/patches and otherwise does not require much reorganization of your source tree. To get the patches applied at build time you simply need to include a makefile snippet and then depend on the patch/unpatch target in the build or clean stage of debian/rules - or you can use the dpatch patching script directly.
It can easily apply patches only on specific architectures if needed.
There are three methods to install dpatch on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dpatch Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dpatch using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dpatchInstall dpatch Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dpatch using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dpatchInstall dpatch Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dpatch using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dpatchHow To Uninstall dpatch on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dpatch package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dpatchUninstall dpatch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dpatch and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dpatchRemove dpatch Configurations and Data
To remove dpatch configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dpatchRemove dpatch configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dpatch configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dpatchDependencies
