How To Install dovecot-imapd on Kali Linux

What is dovecot-imapd
dovecot-imapd is:
Dovecot is a mail server whose major goals are security and extreme reliability. It tries very hard to handle all error conditions and verify that all data is valid, making it nearly impossible to crash. It supports mbox/Maildir and its own dbox/mdbox formats, and should also be pretty fast, extensible, and portable.
This package contains the Dovecot IMAP server.
There are three methods to install dovecot-imapd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dovecot-imapd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dovecot-imapd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dovecot-imapdInstall dovecot-imapd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dovecot-imapd using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the dovecot-imapd package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dovecot-imapdRemove dovecot-imapd Configurations and Data
To remove dovecot-imapd configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dovecot-imapdRemove dovecot-imapd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
