What is docbook-dtds

The DocBook Document Type Definition (DTD) describes the syntax of technical documentation texts (articles, books and manual pages). This syntax is XML-compliant and is developed by the OASIS consortium. This package contains SGML and XML versions of the DocBook DTD.

We can use yum or dnf to install docbook-dtds on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install docbook-dtds.

Install docbook-dtds on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall docbook-dtds on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the docbook-dtds package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove docbook-dtds
