How To Install distcc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install distcc on Kali Linux.
What is distcc
distcc is:
distcc is a program to distribute compilation of C or C++ code across several machines on a network. distcc should always generate the same results as a local compile, is simple to install and use, and is often significantly faster than a local compile. distcc does not require all machines to share a filesystem, have synchronized clocks, or to have the same libraries or header files installed.
There are three methods to install distcc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install distcc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install distcc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install distccInstall distcc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install distcc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install distccInstall distcc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install distcc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install distccHow To Uninstall distcc on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the distcc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove distccUninstall distcc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall distcc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove distccRemove distcc Configurations and Data
To remove distcc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge distccRemove distcc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove distcc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge distccDependencies
