How To Install dirdiff on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install dirdiff on Kali Linux.

What is dirdiff

dirdiff is:

Dirdiff can handle up to 5 trees. It displays a main window with a list of the files which are different between the trees, with colored squares to indicate the relative ages of the versions. A menu allows you to display the differences between any two of the versions in another window. Another menu allows you to copy the file from one tree to another.

There are three methods to install dirdiff on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dirdiff Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dirdiff using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dirdiff

Install dirdiff Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dirdiff using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dirdiff

Install dirdiff Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dirdiff using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the dirdiff package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dirdiff

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dirdiff
