How To Install diffmon on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install diffmon on Kali Linux.
What is diffmon
diffmon is:
This tool is run by a nightly cron job, and takes a `diff’ of specified system configuration files and emails them to a specified email address. Options to diff can be specified. This is useful in friendly environments where there are multiple sysadmins working on configuration files/setups and everyone’s changes are reported. CVS is a better answer, but the most of people don’t want to have the hassle of putting system files in a repository.
There are three methods to install diffmon on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install diffmon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install diffmon using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install diffmonInstall diffmon Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install diffmon using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install diffmonInstall diffmon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install diffmon using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the diffmon package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove diffmonUninstall diffmon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall diffmon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove diffmonRemove diffmon Configurations and Data
To remove diffmon configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge diffmonRemove diffmon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
