The diet libc is a libc that is optimized for small size. It can be used to create small statically linked binaries for Linux on alpha, arm, hppa, ia64, i386, mips, s390, sparc, sparc64, ppc and x86_64. This package contains the object files for dietlibc.
We can use yum or dnf to install dietlibc-devel on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dietlibc-devel.
Install dietlibc-devel on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install dietlibc-devel using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install dietlibc-devel
Install dietlibc-devel on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install dietlibc-devel using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install dietlibc-devel
How To Uninstall dietlibc-devel on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the dietlibc-devel package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove dietlibc-devel
