What is dialog
Dialog is a utility that allows you to show dialog boxes (containing questions or messages) in TTY (text mode) interfaces. Dialog is called from within a shell script. The following dialog boxes are implemented yes/no, menu, input, message, text, info, checklist, radiolist, and gauge. Install dialog if you would like to create TTY dialog boxes.
We can use yum or dnf to install dialog on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dialog.
Install dialog on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dialog using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install dialog
Install dialog on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dialog using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install dialog
How To Uninstall dialog on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the dialog package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove dialog
