How To Install dhis-server on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dhis-server on Kali Linux.
What is dhis-server
dhis-server is:
DHIS is a client-server architecture meant to update databases for systems which are assigned a dynamic IP[v4] address.
By the means of a DHIS client a host which is assigned a dynamic IP address (either from its ISP or from DHCP) is able to communicate with a DHIS server in order to advertise its newly acquired IP address.
There are three methods to install dhis-server on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dhis-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dhis-server using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dhis-serverInstall dhis-server Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dhis-server using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dhis-serverInstall dhis-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dhis-server using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dhis-serverHow To Uninstall dhis-server on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dhis-server package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dhis-serverUninstall dhis-server And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dhis-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dhis-serverRemove dhis-server Configurations and Data
To remove dhis-server configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dhis-serverRemove dhis-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dhis-server configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dhis-serverDependencies
