How To Install dhcpig on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dhcpig
on Kali Linux.
What is dhcpig
dhcpig is:
DHCPig initiates an advanced DHCP exhaustion attack. It will consume all IPs on the LAN, stop new users from obtaining IPs, release any IPs in use, then for good measure send gratuitous ARP and knock all windows hosts offline.
It is based on the scapy library and requests admin privileges to execute. It has been tested on multiple Linux distributions and multiple DHCP servers (ISC, Windows 2k3/2k8,..).
There are three methods to install dhcpig
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dhcpig Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dhcpig
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dhcpig
Install dhcpig Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dhcpig
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dhcpig
Install dhcpig Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dhcpig
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dhcpig
How To Uninstall dhcpig on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dhcpig
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dhcpig
Uninstall dhcpig And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dhcpig
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dhcpig
Remove dhcpig Configurations and Data
To remove dhcpig
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dhcpig
Remove dhcpig configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dhcpig
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dhcpig
