How To Install dhcp-relay on CentOS 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install dhcp-relay on CentOS 8.
What is dhcp-relay
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol which allows individual devices on an IP network to get their own network configuration information (IP address, subnetmask, broadcast address, etc.) from a DHCP server. The overall purpose of DHCP is to make it easier to administer a large network. This package provides the ISC DHCP relay agent.
We can use yum or dnf to install dhcp-relay on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dhcp-relay.
Install dhcp-relay on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install dhcp-relay using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install dhcp-relay
Install dhcp-relay on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install dhcp-relay using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install dhcp-relay
How To Uninstall dhcp-relay on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the dhcp-relay package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove dhcp-relay
