What is dhcp-common
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol which allows individual devices on an IP network to get their own network configuration information (IP address, subnetmask, broadcast address, etc.) from a DHCP server. The overall purpose of DHCP is to make it easier to administer a large network. This package provides common files used by dhcp and dhclient package.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install dhcp-common
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install dhcp-common.
Install dhcp-common on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dhcp-common
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install dhcp-common
Install dhcp-common on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install dhcp-common
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install dhcp-common
How To Uninstall dhcp-common on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the dhcp-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove dhcp-common
