How To Install dh-python on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install dh-python on Kali Linux.

What is dh-python

dh-python is:

This package contains:

• pybuild - invokes various build systems for requested Python versions in order to build modules and extensions
• dh_python2 - calculates Python 2.X dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.
• dh_python3 - calculates Python 3.X dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.
• dh_pypy - calculates PyPy dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.

There are three methods to install dh-python on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dh-python Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-python using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dh-python

Install dh-python Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-python using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dh-python

Install dh-python Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-python using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dh-python

How To Uninstall dh-python on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the dh-python package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dh-python

Uninstall dh-python And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dh-python and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dh-python

Remove dh-python Configurations and Data

To remove dh-python configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dh-python
