How To Install dh-ocaml on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install dh-ocaml on Kali Linux.

What is dh-ocaml

dh-ocaml is:

dh-ocaml is a set of tools and documents to help maintaining Debian packages related to the Objective Caml (OCaml) programming language.

dh-ocaml notably contains the following components:

• Makefile helpers to write debian/rules files implementing OCaml packaging best-practices (both for CDBS lovers and haters)
• the Debian OCaml Packaging Policy
• dh_ocaml debhelper to automatically computes dependencies among binary OCaml packages
• ocaml-md5sums, the tool used to maintain the system registry of OCaml module interface checksums

There are three methods to install dh-ocaml on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dh-ocaml Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-ocaml using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dh-ocaml

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-ocaml using apt by running the following command:

Install dh-ocaml Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dh-ocaml using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dh-ocaml

How To Uninstall dh-ocaml on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the dh-ocaml package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dh-ocaml

To uninstall dh-ocaml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dh-ocaml

To remove dh-ocaml configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dh-ocaml
