How To Install dfu-util on Debian 10

What is dfu-util
dfu-util is:
dfu-util is a program that implements the host (PC) side of the USB DFU 1.0 and 1.1 (Universal Serial Bus Device Firmware Upgrade) protocol.
DFU is intended to download and upload firmware to devices connected over USB. It ranges from small devices like micro-controller boards up to mobile phones. With dfu-util you are able to download firmware to your device or upload firmware from it.
There are three methods to install dfu-util
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dfu-util Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dfu-util
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dfu-util

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dfu-util
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dfu-util
How To Uninstall dfu-util on Debian 10
To uninstall only the dfu-util
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dfu-util
Uninstall dfu-util And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dfu-util
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dfu-util
Remove dfu-util Configurations and Data
To remove dfu-util
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dfu-util
Remove dfu-util configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
