What is devilspie2
Devilspie2 is a window matching utility, allowing the user to perform scripted actions on windows as they are created. For example you can script a terminal program to always be positioned at a specific screen position, or position a window on a specific workspace. It is based on the program Devilspie by Ross Burton.
We can use yum or dnf to install devilspie2 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install devilspie2.
Install devilspie2 on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install devilspie2 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install devilspie2
Install devilspie2 on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install devilspie2 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install devilspie2
How To Uninstall devilspie2 on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the devilspie2 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove devilspie2
