What is desktop-profiles
desktop-profiles is:
This package offers a standard cross-desktop way of managing the conditional activation of available profiles. As such it is useful to both administrators (allowing different configurations for different sets of users) and Debian Blends (who want to customize configuration for a certain target group).
The different Desktop environments in Debian all offer the possibility of customizing them through the use of profiles (sets of configuration and/or data files). Usually it’s also possible to stack configuration sets, combining the customizations provided by a number of profiles.
This package currently supports profiles for KDE, GNOME, Xfce, MATE and Freedesktop. Freedesktop profiles allow you to do a (growing amount of) cross-desktop customization, while the other profile kinds allow you to customize the respective desktop environments to various degrees.
There are three methods to install desktop-profiles
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install desktop-profiles
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install desktop-profiles
How To Uninstall desktop-profiles on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the desktop-profiles
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove desktop-profiles
Uninstall desktop-profiles And Its Dependencies
To uninstall desktop-profiles
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove desktop-profiles
Remove desktop-profiles Configurations and Data
To remove desktop-profiles
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge desktop-profiles
Remove desktop-profiles configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove desktop-profiles
