How To Install deluge-console on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install deluge-console
on Debian 9.
What is deluge-console
deluge-console is:
Deluge is a full-featured, multi-platform, multi-interface BitTorrent client using libtorrent-rasterbar in it’s backend and featuring multiple user-interfaces: GTK+, web and console.
It has been designed using the client-server model with a daemon process that handles all the bittorrent activity. The Deluge daemon is able to run on headless machines with the user-interfaces being able to connect remotely from any platform.
This package contains the console user-interface.
There are three methods to install deluge-console
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install deluge-console Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install deluge-console
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install deluge-console

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install deluge-console
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install deluge-console
Install deluge-console Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install deluge-console
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install deluge-console
How To Uninstall deluge-console on Debian 9
To uninstall only the deluge-console
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove deluge-console
Uninstall deluge-console And Its Dependencies
To uninstall deluge-console
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove deluge-console
Remove deluge-console Configurations and Data
To remove deluge-console
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge deluge-console
Remove deluge-console configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove deluge-console
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge deluge-console
