How To Install debootstick on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install debootstick
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is debootstick
debootstick is:
debootstick is used to generate a bootable image from a Debian or Ubuntu chroot environment (such as one generated with debootstrap, docker export, etc.). This image should then be copied to a USB stick or disk and used to boot any amd64 machine (BIOS- or UEFI-based). debootstick can also generate an SD card image for a raspberry pi board. The embedded system is ready to be started live (no installation procedure needed), and is fully upgradeable (kernel and bootloader included).
There are three methods to install debootstick
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install debootstick Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install debootstick
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install debootstick
Install debootstick Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install debootstick
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install debootstick
Install debootstick Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install debootstick
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install debootstick
How To Uninstall debootstick on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the debootstick
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove debootstick
Uninstall debootstick And Its Dependencies
To uninstall debootstick
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove debootstick
Remove debootstick Configurations and Data
To remove debootstick
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge debootstick
Remove debootstick configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove debootstick
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge debootstick
