How To Install debirf on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install debirf
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is debirf
debirf is:
debirf (DEBian on Initial Ram Filesystem) is a set of tools designed to create and prepare a kernel and initial ram filesystem that can run a full-blown Debian environment entirely from RAM.
The kernel and initramfs pair created by debirf can be used for a myriad of purposes, from quick-and-easy system repair to diskless thin clients. The kernel and initrd can be placed in your system boot partition, burnt to read-only media, or supplied by a netboot server.
The debirf tools use a module architecture which allows you to customize debirf for any possible purpose by specifying what components are included in the generated image.
There are three methods to install debirf
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install debirf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install debirf
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install debirf

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install debirf
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install debirf
Install debirf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install debirf
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install debirf
How To Uninstall debirf on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the debirf
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove debirf
Uninstall debirf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall debirf
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove debirf
Remove debirf Configurations and Data
To remove debirf
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge debirf
Remove debirf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove debirf
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge debirf
