How To Install dcm2niix on Kali Linux

What is dcm2niix

dcm2niix is:

dcm2niix is the successor of dcm2nii, a popular tool for converting images from the complicated formats used by scanner manufacturers (DICOM, PAR/REC) to the simpler NIfTI format used by many scientific tools. It works for all modalities (CT, MRI, PET, SPECT) and sequence types.

There are three methods to install dcm2niix on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dcm2niix Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dcm2niix using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dcm2niix

Install dcm2niix Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dcm2niix using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dcm2niix

Install dcm2niix Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dcm2niix using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dcm2niix

How To Uninstall dcm2niix on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the dcm2niix package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dcm2niix

Uninstall dcm2niix And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dcm2niix and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dcm2niix

Remove dcm2niix Configurations and Data

To remove dcm2niix configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dcm2niix

Remove dcm2niix configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dcm2niix configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dcm2niix
